The Passing of Pete Peterson

Statement from KFF President & CEO Drew Altman

The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) mourns the death and celebrates the life of Pete Peterson, whose foundation established the Peterson Center on Healthcare, our partner on the Peterson-Kaiser Health System Tracker. KFF has collaborated with the Center to analyze the performance of the U.S. healthcare system with the goal of improving the quality, cost, and affordability of care for all Americans.

It has been my privilege to work closely with Pete and Michael Peterson as the Center on Healthcare has been established. Pete cared deeply about our country. He was known for his dedication to improving our fiscal health, but he also had a passion for improving our health care system. I know Pete was especially proud of the work his son Michael has done with the Foundation and the Center, and he was confident that his legacy is in the best possible hands.
